Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn via Route 62 – Overnight Wilderness
Visit an Ostrich Farm for lunch and get up close to the largest bird species in the world
Caving through South Africa’s largest cave network
Descend the breath-taking Oeteniqua Pass to Wilderness for the night
Departing Cape Town, we head to Oudtshoorn, via Route 62, a town situated in the semi-desert of the Klein Karoo and famous for the trade of Ostrich feathers to all sorts of industries. Although the feather trade is no longer at its peak, the industry’s history and Oudtshoorn’s major involvement are still greatly celebrated to this day.
It is only fitting then that we visit an Ostrich farm in the area, where you will be given a tour and get up close to their feathered friends, the largest bird species in the world. Lunch is at the farm and for those who haven’t relinquished their omnivorous nature, there will be a variety of Ostrich dishes to choose from to tantalise the taste-buds!
Leaving the Ostrich farm, we go underground into an ancient network of caves on a guided tour of the largest and most intriguing cave network in South Africa, learning all about its history and fascinating geological wonders.
Back into the daylight, we head over the mountains, from arid Klein Karoo semi-desert, down the breath-taking Oeteniqua pass and into a complete contrast of lush coastal-forest, rivers and lagoons, stretching along The Garden Route.
Finally settling in at your lodge in Wilderness for the night.
Day 2: Tsitsikamma Forest Tree Top Canopy Tour, Wild Cat Sanctuary, Open-Air Aviary, Primate Sanctuary – Overnight Nature’s Valley
Zipline through the Tsitsikamma Forest on a tree top canopy tour
Encounter Africa’s curious cats, both large and small, on a guided tour of the cheetah & wild-cat sanctuary
Visit the Southern Hemisphere’s largest open-air aviary, bustling with a vast array of birdlife
Meet many a mischievous monkey on tour at the primate sanctuary
Journey through the Tsitsikamma Forest on a 3-hour tour with a bird’s eye view of the forest floor below, ziplining through the treetops from one platform to the next. The zipline, although thrilling and a bit daunting for some at first, is by no means an adventure sport for the serious adrenalin junky. Almost anyone can do it with ease, and you are accompanied by guides throughout the canopy tour, to advise, show you the ropes and make sure all equipment is safe and secure. There is no other way to experience the forest quite like this and it will leave you wanting to do it all over again!
Then get the claws out at the Cheetah & Wild Cat Sanctuary, on a 1 hour guided Wild Cat Tour. Experience these incredible creatures up-close and learn about the indigenous wild cats of South Africa. See African Wild Cats, Servals, Caracals, Cheetahs, Lions, Leopard and much, much more!
After the morning excitement we settle down to lunch, before your animal adventure continues at the largest open-air aviary in the Southern Hemisphere! Discover a huge variety of bird species at home here, on an informative guided tour through an avian paradise.
On the last wild adventure of the day we get to see our not-so-distant relatives, at the primate sanctuary, where you are taken on a guided tour to learn about and meet many a mischievous monkey in the surrounding trees, already anticipating your visit.
The night is spent in Nature’s Valley.
Day 3: Knysna Lagoon Cruise, Elephant Park – Overnight Knysna
Ferry across a bustling lagoon to an untouched coastal wilderness and explore this beautiful paradise on a leisurely hike before being served a hearty lunch in exquisite natural surroundings
Interact with Elephants, Africa’s bushmasters, and gain a greater insight into their might and majesty, at the Elephant park
After breakfast, we take you to the Knysna Lagoon for a slow-paced ferry trip across to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, a piece of untouched coastal wilderness where a scrumptious lunch will be served and one can take a leisurely stroll, revelling the serene wilderness. Leaving Featherbed, you are ferried back across the lagoon to harbour.
Fresh from your leisure cruise and into the wilder side, we visit the bushmasters, African Elephants at the Elephant Park. Here, you will able to interact with, touch and feed these majestic beasts and learn about what makes them so incredibly special and such a crucial part of the African wilderness.
The day’s adventure had, we overnight in what is considered ‘Little Cape Town’, the town of Knysna.
